TekStart offers children a STEM based out-of-school experience to kick start technology education while supporting the PA Learning Standards. The facility is a group home licensed by Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL). We're located in the Lincoln neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; serving a population of students from low-moderate income families, residing in blighted neighborhoods. These neighborhoods traditionally lack sufficient access and resources to invest in S.T.E.M. education.
Students enrolled benefit from a STEM-based curriculum, balanced meals, as well as an encouraging and supportive environment. During school year we provide children with a space to do their home with assistance, a snack plus activities to stimulate physical education and build upon the Pennsylvania Learning Standards. In addition we encourage family participation through quarterly gathering or events and monthly we take the children on a field trip.
Our mission is to kick start technology education in children and their families through engaging them in hands on S.T.E.M. activities.
